Spring 2009 encompassed a huge amount of casting! I cast a orange juice seals, (which did not evolve into much because..... I don't wait to get into) elongated prong settings and fabricated ring blanks. The photos will give you a better understanding about each piece I cast and how they evolved. The elongated prong setting was made into a rubber mold and then injected with wax. After injecting I cut and reassembled into various shapes, resembling architectural broken down structures. Of the three I cast only one developed into potentially a finished piece. I will be furthering my exploration with these wire structure.



The ring blanks were created for a substantial link, tension set necklace. That did not function properly because my tension settings were cast, creating a loose molecular structure causing very soft flexible metal. So, of course, no tension to hold the stone. To try and remedy the problem I twisted, pulled and hammered in order to bring the tension back, but it just did not want to hold. I made the necklace and set all stones and by the end of the crit more than half had fallen out. No need to cry about this! I need to change directions and my change developed into a great design for earrings. Check it out!
